Sacristans
What does a sacristan do?
Our sacristans here at Holy Spirit perform light housekeeping duties to prepare the church for weekend Masses.
Duties include (but not limited to):
- Dusting in the sanctuary, vestibule and sacristy.
- Changing water in the holy water fonts, (& altar linens when needed).
- Washing and removing wax from the candle followers and washing the ciborium (the covered cup designed to hold the Eucharist)
- Straightening the altar server vestments as well as the missalettes and hymnals in the pews.
When
The ministry is primarily performed after the 9AM Mass on Saturday mornings. You will generally work with 1 or 2 other sacristans.
