Holy Spirit Women’s Council
The Holy Spirit Women’s Council’s mission is developed from the National Council of Catholic Women, which “acts through its members to support, empower and educate all Catholic women in spirituality, leadership and service.”
We are an informal group which includes all women of the parish who are 18 years and older. We stay very busy having fun, praying, working, and serving together. We pay no dues and have no monthly meetings. Our goal is to grow spiritually, make friends, and serve our parish and community!
Please come join us, for whatever you’re able to do. Sometimes, you just need to get out of the house and be amongst friends!
Volunteer Opportunities
Do you have a desire to serve your parish? Here are a couple of opportunities:
- Housekeeping of the sacristy and elsewhere as needed.
- Laundering the altar linens.
- To volunteer, please email or call Patsy Douglass for more details at 703-764-3473, or [email protected].
And there is always a need for others who wish to be readers at the weekend masses, and/or also serve as eucharistic ministers. If you feel called to serve in this way, please call or email Patty Tang.

Event Recap – High Tea, June 14, 2025
After months of planning and gathering of tea cups/tea pots, searching for just the right accoutrements, a couple of hours of setup, and delightful and attentive work by Joe of the maintenance staff, the Holy Spirit Women’s Council held their final event of the 2024-2025 fiscal year on Saturday, June 14, in McGivney Hall.
The British High Tea was attended by over 50 women of the parish who brought “sweet or savory” foods to be shared by all. The decor was delightful; the fare was delectable, and the company of each of you was really enjoyable.
After everyone had their tea and a couple trips to the food tables, the meeting was called to order to introduce the potential new Board members on which the Council members would vote. On the ballot to be considered were Colleen Coyne for President. Shadowing her for the first year would be Catherine Williams, with the idea of taking over the role of President in the second year of the term. For First Vice President, Patsy Douglass is being put forward with the help of Christine Gloniger. Candie Poumade will remain on the Board as Second Vice President. Lisa Rampino is considered for the role of Secretary, and Joann Perla for the position of Treasurer.
Following this election, everyone resumed enjoying the rest of the event. Looking forward to seeing all of you again soon.
