Respect Life: Help After Abortion

Help After Abortion

“No woman wants an abortion as she wants an ice cream cone or a Porsche. She wants an abortion as an animal caught in a trap wants to gnaw off its own leg.”

Frederica Mathewes-Green

Whatever the circumstances that encouraged a woman to choose to have an abortion, dealing with the repercussions of that abortion will be a lifelong process for her.

Fortunately, there are many outreaches available to help women heal after having had an abortion. Ministries like our own diocesan Project Rachel offer women an integrated approach to healing for abortion that offers:

  • Confidential help through phone calls, and one-on-one support
  • A trained staff with referrals to a network of priests, religious, counselors, and laypersons
  • Services for anyone who suffers from the aftermath of abortion, including fathers, grandparents, siblings, friends, and other family members
  • Group healing events periodically throughout the year
  • and more!

“I highly encourage those living in pain to seek the Lord and find healing in companionship with other women. It is a secure, loving, grace-filled experience… My soul was crying out for this kind of healing.”
