NVJCYO SPORTS MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the NVJCYO is to organize sports programs for parish youth from various grades throughout the Catholic Diocese of Arlington. The NVJCYO is an important component of the comprehensive approach to youth ministry in the diocese. The programs administered by NVJCYO are meant to encourage healthy physical activity but also to play a significant role in the development of Catholic values in the youth of the Diocese. These activities should foster cooperation, respect, sportsmanship, responsibility, leadership, competitiveness, fairness, and courtesy.

Spring Track Registration is CLOSED.  Thanks for your participation!

Practice begins Wednesday, March 7th, 3:15-4:30 PM and will be held every Wednesday until the Track Meet on Sat/Sun, May 12-13. Registration Fee is $25/athlete. PARTICIPANT AGREEMENT

Tennis – SPRING (Registration is CLOSED).

Tennis (SPRING 2018) – is CLOSED.  Classes are full.  The coordinator is Niza Simunyola.  Practice will be every Saturday 8-9:30AM at the Audrey Moore Wakefield Rec Center beginning April 21 and run through Saturday, June 02.  This is an instructional program – no competitive matches.  Registration will close on Friday, April 30.  Space is limited.

Girls Volleyball Registration is CLOSED!  Thank you for our biggest registration EVER!!

Due to the overwhelming response we have to close registration early!  NO MORE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED!

There are three grade levels (3/4 grade , 5/6 grade, and 7/8 grade) – ARE FULL).  Matches begin April 14/15 and run through June 02/03.  Registration Fee is $110/athlete. Please contact Dennis Smolak if you have any questions at DSMOL@aol.com or 703-503-5397.

Basketball – REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.  Thanks for your continued support!

Additional players for other teams will be accepted if space allows.  Send an email communication to program coordinator, Chuck Woods, at jcwoods2@verizon.net, if you want your child to be placed on a waiting list for a second team.

Registration is currently Closed.  If you have any questions please contact Mr. Chuck Woods. Please register and pay online via the link at the top of this page by selecting basketball for the correct pricing.  The cost of registration is $145 per student through October 15.  After that date the registration fee is $170.  Late registration, after October 15, 2017, will be accepted on a case by case basis.  If space is NOT available a refund of Fees will be made.  The Medical participation combined form and the code of conduct form are to be printed, signed, and given to the coach at the first practice.

Registration is Open for the 2017-2018 season!  The registration fee for the 2017-2018 season is $125.  The cost of late registration is $150.  Late registration, after October 15, 2017, will be done on a case by case basis.  Please register and pay online via the link at the top of this page by selecting Cheerleading for the correct pricing.  The Medical participation combined form is to be printed, signed, and given to the coach at the first practice.  Any questions should be directed to the cheerleading coordinator.

Tennis (Fall 2017) – is CLOSED.   Niza Simunyola will be the coordinator for the program.  Practice will be every Saturday 8-9:30AM at the Audrey Moore Wakefield Rec Center beginning September 09 through October 28 including Columbus Day Weekend. All competitive matches are on Sundays.   The first match is September 17.  The last match is October 29.  Registration will close on Friday, September 08.  Space is limited.

Registration is CLOSED!  We have a new head coach Mr. Gregory Gordon!!  The Holy Spirit Cross Country Team had three separate Cross Country Meets: Saturday, September 23rd at Ft. Hunt Park, Saturday October 21st at Laurel Hill Park, and Sunday November 5th at Burke Lake Park.  Please click on Cross Country Meet Information under ‘Forms’ for details.  All registration is online except for Medical Participant Combined Form and Participation Agreement both of which the player shall bring to the first practice.

Baseball

I am sad to announce that the baseball program has been discontinued do to low parish enrollment/interest throughout the Diocese.  This program had a 30 year run but due to changes in demographics and a focus from parents in enrolling their boys in select programs/travel teams (at very high cost) with the vague promise of a sports scholarship to an NCAA Division 1 school, the fun element of the sport has been lost.  One day, we may recover our perspective and let kids be kids again.  For those who participated, it was a fun time.  For those who are missing out on the fun, my condolences.
