Holy Thursday: Seven Churches Visit

“Could not keep watch with me for one hour? Mt 26:40

The Church has an ancient tradition called The Visiting of the Seven Churches. After the Last Supper Mass, our LORD is set out at every Catholic Church to be adored until Good Friday begins at Midnight. We will be travelling to seven nearby churches and will bring all of our Lenten prayers and petitions with us.

We will leave directly following the Mass of the Last Supper and will return to Holy Spirit between 11:15 and 11:30p.m. Transportation will be provided. There will be a special treat for everyone when we get back before Good Friday starts and the fasting begins! I will need chaperones/drivers for this!

Good Friday: Feed the Homeless in DC

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink…”  Matthew 25: 35

We will be heading into DC to feed the homeless. We will go into DC on Capitol Hill around Union Station looking for homeless men and women to bring breakfast/lunch to. Please bring enough money to buy them breakfast/lunch ($7-8) from a nearby restaurant.

Weather Permitting: We will leave Holy Spirit at 8:45a.m. and return no later than 12p.m. I will need chaperones/drivers for this outing!

**Holy Saturday: Morning of Reflection/mini-Retreat

“He then rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb and went away. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were there, sitting opposite the tomb.”  Matthew 27: 60-61

We will be doing a morning of reflection waiting with Mary Magdalene outside of the tomb as we wait for the Easter Sunday. As we have died with Christ and risen to life with Him in Baptism, we will take a few hours to enter into the tomb with Him on Holy Saturday this will include: A special reflection by Fr. O’Donohue on the importance of Holy Saturday, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, quiet personal time for reflection and meditation, Lectio Divina, the Rosary etc.

We will begin in the Holy Spirit Youth Room at 8:30a.m. and end no later than 11:30a.m. I will need another adult chaperone for this! Breakfast will be provided!
